This City’s Centre

A digital tryptich in 3 parts- “Window – Linger – Here, Now”  by Blind Ditch.

chorusWindow – 2 screen video projection with sound, approx. 10mx 3m Royal Albert Memorial Museum, in collaboration with composer John Drever.

Window is a complex and evolving portrait of Exeter, perceived through the eyes and voices of its residents.  Over the summer months of 2013, I interviewed  38 city centre residents and documented the views from their windows through HD video and sound . The work gently probes the complex boundaries and varied relationships between domestic and public spaces in the city. Up to 18 simultaneously displayed vistas collide and orchestrate the city and its cast, offering unique access to angles and elevations that would otherwise be  inaccessible to a general public. Interviews and films served as source materials for the development of the successive parts of the project.
